Everything that inspires me -from everyday surroundings to imagination and travel- finds its way into my work, with the hope that it inspires others as well.

The subjects of my work vary, but animals play a central role. My art reflects a deep love and admiration for them, combined with influences from fairy tales, folklore and storytelling. These elements are often mixed with a touch of humor and a bit of quirkiness.

Nature is another important source of inspiration. From flowers and trees to vast landscapes, I am fascinated by changing light, colours and atmosphere. Whether travelling far away, exploring my local environment (like my vegetable garden or house plants), or travelling in my mind; new impressions continually feed my creative process.

Materials and techniques

My sculptures are cast in bronze, using the traditional lost-wax technique (cire perdue). Almost all works are one of a kind, sometimes I make sculptures in a small edition, but then this is stated in the information.

My paintings are mainly in oil, sometimes with acrylic or mixed media. Smaller works are often painted on panel, while larger pieces are made on canvas. I enjoy working with loose, visible brushstrokes and intentionally leave certain areas more unfinished, giving the work a sense of openness and freshness. My works on paper are usually made with a combination of charcoal, pencil and ink.

CV

1991-1993 Design Academy Eindhoven

1994-1996 Working, travelling and living in the Netherlands and Australia, New Zealand

1997-2000 Institute of teacher and school Arnhem (ILS), Nijmegen (graduated)

2001-2004 Art Academy (Artez) Arnhem, painting and sculpture (graduated)

2005-2006 Working and living in Portugal

2007-2013 Working, travelling and living in Portugal and the Netherlands

2014-2015 Working and living in Portugal

2016- Working and living in the Netherlands

About my work As a contemporary visual artist, I translate my fascination with animals, nature and storytelling into expressive sculptures, paintings and drawings.
